The Big Red One first entered Vietnam in the summer of 1965.  The division already had a long and proud history, from the trenches of WWI, to storming Omaha beach.  The division during this time had not yet received the draftees of the later Vietnam period, and as such still retained a professional military appearance.  (No cut off sleeves, no excessive helmet graffiti/anti war graffiti.)

The USGI force is structured around the squad.  Each squad will be expected to work together and with the Platoon Leader to achieve their given objectives.

US Army partisipants will be expected to remain "in game" for the durration of the event.

The Vietnamese Popular Forces, or as they were known to the GI’s: “Ruff Puffs”, contained numerous local militias based out of the various towns and villages that dotted the south.  Unlike the army, these militias were made up of local farmers and civilians.  It was hoped that these forces would create a popular movement to counter Viet Cong recruitment, and create an armed security presence to disrupt VC operations in the more remote villages outside the major cities where the South Vietnamese army was primarily based.

This faction is structured around the squad.  Each squad will be expected to work together and with the Platoon leader to achieve their given objectives.

RF-PF partisipants will are welcomed to remain "in game" for the durration of the event but have the option to go "out of play" at 11PM and retire to the 2nd floor of the tavern untill 8AM.

Vietnamese Popular Forces:  Uniforms and Equipment

The Viet Cong Main Force was a standing army made up of soldiers recruited from both the north and south.  Trained in North Vietnam, these divisions were equipped with the same uniforms and weapons as their North Vietnamese Army counterparts (though they lacked heavy weaponry such as artillery). Working in conjunction with the local militias, these main forces served as the heavy hitters of the Viet Cong.  This faction is for those who desire a more traditional, military based structure.  They wear uniforms and are unable to blend into the civilian populace.

The main forces will spend the entire event as a single cohesive unit under the VC commander.

VC Main Force partisapants will be expected to remain "in game" for the durration of the event.

The National Liberation Front, or as it was known in the south: “Viet Cong”, contained numerous local militias based out of the various towns and villages that dotted the south.  Unlike the main force, these militias were made up of local farmers and civilians.  Able to blend into the populace, these militias were essential in gathering information, collecting food and taxes, and exerting control over the local populace.  Unable to take the US forces head on, they quickly became experts at sniping, ambushing, and sabotage.

The Guerilla forves will be deployed in 3-man cells under the direction of the VC commander.

VC Guerilla partisipants will are welcomed to remain "in game" for the durration of the event but have the option to go "out of play" at 11PM and retire to the 2nd floor of the tavern untill 8AM.
